Habitat Loss

• Bare and vegetated substrates were delineated at 300 rookery islands on the Texas coast in all major bay systems from four years between 1995 and 2018.

• Bare substrate decreased by 2.5% ± 2.7% per year and vegetated substrate decreased by 1.6% ± 3.1% per year.

• Overall, 88% of islands lost supratidal habitat.
